Conventional hand creams form an insulating layer on the skin and interrupt electrical contact with the grounding wrist strap – unnoticed, even when the tester shows green. The ESD Hand Lotion is specifically formulated to be conductive: it improves skin contact with the grounding cuff, supports static dissipation, and simultaneously nourishes with Aloe Vera and vitamins A, D and E.

Lifetime conductivity – the antistatic property remains permanent and does not diminish.

No insulating layer – normal creams contain silicones and polymers that interrupt electrical contact with the grounding wrist strap. This lotion is the exception: specially formulated to be conductive and leaves no insulating residue on the skin.

Masterwear's ESD Hand Lotion 250 ml was specifically developed for work environments in which electrostatic discharges must be reliably controlled. Unlike conventional hand creams, it leaves no insulating layer on the skin and actively supports the function of grounding wrist straps and ESD cuffs.

The conductive formulation improves skin contact for grounding and helps optimise the dissipation resistance, especially on dry skin. At the same time, the lotion nourishes intensely with Aloe Vera and vitamins A, D and E.

Application Instructions

Correct application ensures permanent ESD protection. Apply before putting on the grounding wrist strap – especially at the start of a shift and after washing hands.

  • ⚡Rub the lotion onto wrist and forearm before attaching the grounding wrist strap

FAQ

Why can regular hand cream not be used in an EPA area?
Regular hand creams contain polymers, silicones and emollients that leave a thin insulating layer on the skin once they have dried. This significantly increases skin resistance and can completely interrupt the electrical contact between the skin and the grounding wrist strap. The grounding wrist strap thus becomes ineffective – even if the tester shows green. In EPA areas this can lead to damage to sensitive components.
How does the ESD Hand Lotion make the skin conductive?
The lotion contains conductive ingredients that leave no insulating residue after absorption. At the same time, the moisturising care increases the water content of the stratum corneum – water is a natural electrolyte and improves skin conductivity. On dry skin, resistance rises sharply; well-cared-for skin conducts considerably better. The combination of conductive formulation and moisturising care delivers the maximum effect.
When and how often should the lotion be applied?
It is recommended to apply it before putting on the grounding wrist strap – especially at the start of the shift and after washing hands. On dry skin or in dry environments (air conditioning, cleanroom), also several times a day. The lotion absorbs quickly – no waiting time after application.
Does the lotion leave residues on components or surfaces?
No. The fast-absorbing formula leaves no sticky or greasy-shiny film on the skin. Components, circuit boards and surfaces are not soiled on contact. The lotion is free from silicones and other substances that could damage sensitive electronic components or contacts.
Is the lotion also suitable for ATEX areas?
Its REACH and RoHS compliance and conductive formulation generally make the lotion suitable for ATEX areas where antistatic requirements apply. For safety-critical ATEX zones (Zone 0, 1) we recommend reviewing the specific requirements of the operational risk assessment and confirming suitability on a case-by-case basis.
