10 Standards, Winter Insulation
and Acti-Reach™ Ergonomics in one Jacket

Modaflame™ Rain+ Ripstop – inherent

The 7mm ripstop fabric (60% PES, 21% modacrylic, 18% cotton, 1% carbon fiber, PU-coated) offers inherent flame protection according to EN ISO 11612 A1+A2, B1, C1, F1 – permanently embedded in the fiber structure, without wash-out effect. Tear and abrasion resistant due to ripstop structure.

ELIM 32 cal/cm² – APC 2 Arc Flash Protection

IEC 61482-1-1 ELIM 32 cal/cm² and ATPV 37 cal/cm² as well as APC Class 2 according to IEC 61482-1-2 – the highest arc flash protection in the PW3 range. For high voltage environments, switchgear construction, and power supply.

Acti-Reach™ – Single-Panel Ergonomics

The patented Acti-Reach™ construction connects sleeves and torso with a single ergonomic fabric strip. This allows unrestricted arm and shoulder rotation when reaching overhead, turning, and stretching – without the typical tension of conventional cuts.

EN 342 Cold Protection + EN 343 Wet Weather Protection

EN 342 Class 2 (0.337 m²·K/W) confirms winter insulation – flame-retardant filling (150 g polyester) and flame-retardant cotton lining (170 g). EN 343 Class 4:1X for strong wet weather protection. Complete insulation for outdoor use in winter.

Harness-compatible Dual-Access Pockets

The long side pockets with dual zippers are specifically designed for use with safety harnesses and climbing gear. Both pull tabs allow the pocket to be opened from above or below – even while wearing a harness system.

Internal Tablet Pocket & Radio Loop

The internal tablet pocket keeps digital devices safe and dry. The radio loop allows easy attachment of microphones and communication devices – ideal for teams with constant voice communication in outdoor use.

Material &
Specification

The FR606 Modaflame Rain+ Hi-Vis Winter Jacket was developed for demanding work environments where protection against heat, flames, arc flash, chemical splashes, and bad weather is required simultaneously. The high-quality multi-standard winter jacket combines certified protection with modern weather protection and high freedom of movement for professional outdoor use.

The innovative Modaflame Rain+ fabric offers inherent flame-retardant properties that remain permanently effective even after frequent washing. In addition, the jacket reliably protects against radiant, convective, and contact heat, as well as against electrostatic discharge.

Due to its waterproof construction with welded seams, the FR606 is ideal for rain, wind, and winter conditions. The fully lined interior effectively retains heat and, together with the flame-retardant cotton lining, ensures high wearing comfort at low temperatures.

Particularly noteworthy is the high arc flash protection according to IEC 61482-2, which makes the jacket ideal for power supply, electrical engineering, and industrial applications. The segmented flame-retardant reflective strips also improve visibility and mobility in everyday work.

The ergonomic PW3 construction with Acti-Reach™ technology allows maximum freedom of movement during physical work. The equipment is supplemented by a removable helmet-compatible storm hood, radio loops, an internal tablet pocket, and an extended back section for additional weather protection.

Care Instructions

Modaflame™ Rain+ fabric has inherent flame retardancy – permanent without wash-out effect. Do not use fabric softeners: these damage the carbon fiber antistatic and PU coating. All three layers (outer fabric, lining, filling) are flame retardant – correct care maintains all 10 standards permanently.

🌡️Machine wash gently according to manufacturer's instructions
🚫No fabric softeners – damages PU coating & antistatic
🚫Do not bleach – do not dry clean
💨Line dry – do not tumble dry

FAQ

What is Acti-Reach™ and why is it so important?
Acti-Reach™ is a patented cut from Portwest where a single ergonomically shaped strip of fabric connects the sleeve to the torso – instead of the normal shoulder seam. This allows for significantly greater freedom of movement when twisting, reaching overhead, and stretching. With normal cuts, the shoulder seam pulls the back panel up or tenses the sleeve. Acti-Reach™ eliminates this tension – particularly important for physically demanding tasks in protective clothing.
How does the FR606 compare to the MV70?
Both jackets are high-performance multi-norm jackets from Portwest. The MV70 has slightly higher arc flash values (ATPV 39 cal/cm² vs. 37 cal/cm² for the FR606) and welded seams, but it is not a winter jacket. The FR606 additionally offers EN 342 cold protection (winter insulation), EN 343 Class 4 wet weather protection, Acti-Reach™ ergonomics, harness-compatible pockets, and an internal tablet pocket – it is the choice for winter operations and activities with a climbing harness.
What is EN 342 and how warm is the FR606?
EN 342 is the standard for protective clothing against cold. The value 0.337 m²K/W is the thermal resistance – the higher, the warmer. Class 2 corresponds to medium winter insulation, suitable for temperatures down to moderate sub-zero degrees with physically active work. The flame-retardant cotton lining (170 g) and the flame-resistant polyester filling (150 g) together provide the winter warmth – both layers are also flame-retardant.
What does EN 343 Class 4:1X mean?
EN 343 assesses protective clothing against rain and wet weather in two classes: water resistance (1–4, the higher the better) and water vapor permeability (1–3). Class 4:1X means: highest water protection (Class 4), lowest water vapor permeability (Class 1), and X stands for measurement after conditioning. Class 4 is suitable for intense rain conditions – more than most work jackets offer.
Why are harness-compatible pockets important?
Anyone wearing a climbing harness or safety harness system at work has restricted access to normal jacket pockets – the harness runs across the torso and blocks normal side pockets. The long dual-access side pockets of the FR606 can be opened from above or below and are designed to remain accessible even when wearing a harness system.
Are bulk discounts and corporate embroidery possible?
Yes. For orders of 10 pieces or more, we offer tiered volume discounts. The FR606 has a special print access zipper for company logos – embroidery and printing are available on request. Contact us directly.
