EN ISO 20471 Class 3 – Maximum Visibility

Class 3 is the highest high-visibility class – more reflective surface than Class 2, therefore mandatory for operations with particularly high risk. Segmented reflective strips (2 × 5 cm) all around the torso and arms, as well as 1 × 5 cm on the shoulders.

8000 mm Water Column – Strong Rain Protection

The TPU membrane of the 3-layer laminate offers a water resistance of 8000 mm – significantly more than the 3000 mm of the VW68VBY vest. Even in heavy continuous rain, the inside remains dry. Wind resistance: 3000 mm.

Aluminum Thermoreflective Lining

The aluminum-coated thermoreflective lining in the back reflects body heat back – similar to an emergency blanket. Combined with the quilted lining (100% polyester, approx. 200 g/m²), this provides excellent cold protection for winter.

Detachable Adjustable Storm Hood

The storm hood protects the head and neck from wind and rain and can be removed if necessary. Adjustable for optimal fit – suitable for helmets or alone. The head stays dry in the rain, and the hood can be removed in good weather.

Water-Repellent Zipper Pockets

All zippers are water-repellent – the front zipper with underflap and chin guard, as well as the zippers on the pockets. Contents remain dry even in rain. Internal Lycra cuffs prevent cold drafts at the sleeve ends.

Velcro Cuffs & Extended Back Panel

Adjustable cuffs with Velcro for optimal sealing at the wrist. The extended back panel protects the lumbar region when bending and working – no cold drafts between pants and jacket.

Material &
Specification

The Vizwell VW268 winter jacket is a high-performance winter high-visibility jacket for professional use in extreme weather conditions. It meets the requirements of EN ISO 20471 Class 3, providing maximum visibility in safety-critical work areas such as construction, logistics, industry, and infrastructure.

With a water column of up to 8000 mm, the jacket reliably protects against rain, snow, and wind. The robust outer material combined with a wind and water-repellent construction ensures durable weather protection for daily outdoor use.

A special highlight is the aluminum-coated thermoreflective lining, which effectively stores and reflects body heat. This keeps the thermal insulation consistently high even at very low temperatures. This is complemented by insulating inner padding, which provides additional cold protection.

The detachable and adjustable storm hood allows flexible adaptation to different weather conditions. Additionally, segmented reflective strips ensure high visibility and at the same time greater freedom of movement during physical work.

Care Instructions

The 3-layer softshell laminate with TPU membrane requires careful maintenance to permanently preserve the 8000 mm water resistance and windproofness. Do not use fabric softeners – these damage the TPU membrane and high-visibility effect. The water-repellent finish can be refreshed by ironing.

🌡️Machine wash gently at max. 30–40 °C
🚫No fabric softeners – damages TPU membrane
🚫Do not bleach – do not dry clean

Why the VW268
is the right winter jacket

For anyone who works outdoors in winter and doesn't want to compromise on high-visibility, warmth and weather protection – with the highest high-visibility class 3 and 8000 mm water column.

EN ISO 20471 Class 3 – the highest high-visibility class – more reflective surface than Class 2, for use in high-risk situations on roads and construction sites with vehicle traffic.
8000 mm water column – real rain protection – significantly more than the 3000 mm of the vest version. Even in heavy continuous rain, the inside of the jacket remains dry.
Aluminium thermal reflective lining – reflects body heat back. In combination with the quilted lining, this provides effective cold protection without making the jacket unnecessarily heavy.
Detachable storm hood + Lycra cuffs – no detail forgotten: head and wrists stay warm and dry, the extended back protects the lumbar region.

FAQ

What is the difference between high-visibility Class 2 and Class 3?
EN ISO 20471 Class 3 is the highest high-visibility class and requires more reflective material (stripes on torso, arms and shoulders) than Class 2 (torso and shoulders only). Class 3 is required for particularly high-risk operations – for example on motorways, expressways or construction sites with high vehicle density. A jacket with sleeves can meet Class 3; vests (sleeveless) achieve a maximum of Class 2.
What does the aluminium thermal reflective lining mean?
The aluminium-coated lining in the back works similarly to an emergency blanket: It reflects infrared radiation (body heat) back to the body instead of releasing it to the outside. This keeps the back warm, even if the outside temperature drops sharply. In combination with the quilted lining, this results in particularly effective thermal insulation for winter work.
How strong is the water protection at 8000 mm?
The water column indicates how much water pressure the fabric can withstand before it becomes soaked. 8000 mm corresponds to heavy and prolonged rain – far more than simple water-repellent equipment (1000–2000 mm). For comparison: Heavy continuous rain corresponds to approx. 4000–6000 mm. The VW268 is suitable for almost all weather conditions for outdoor work.
Does the hood also fit over a hard hat?
The storm hood of the VW268 is adjustable and can be adapted to different head sizes. For helmets with volume (hard hats or bicycle helmets), it is recommended to remove the hood – it can be easily detached for this purpose. For work without a helmet, the hood reliably protects against rain and wind.
How is the VW268 cleaned?
Machine wash gently at max. 30–40 °C. Do not use fabric softeners – these damage the TPU membrane and impair water resistance and high-visibility effect. Do not bleach, do not dry clean, do not tumble dry. Line dry. The water-repellent finish can be refreshed after washing by carefully ironing at a low heat setting.
